University of the Third Age
The University of the Third Age (U3A) was founded in France in 1973 to provide continuing learning opportunities for retired people. By 1981 it was established in England and by 1989 branches were opening in New Zealand. Today there are branches world wide.

U3A aims to:

  • enable mature persons to exercise their minds and thus keep more healthy and active.
  • encourage members to form interactive groups to advance their educational and social interests.
