Opera Appreciation groups 1 and 2 do not just do the old favourites like "Carmen", "Aida" and "La Boheme" endlessly recycled.
Recently both groups studied Cilea "Adriana Lecouvrer".

Cilea "Adriana Lecouvrer" is a late 19th century Italian opera in the Verismo style of Puccini's "Tosca" - Verismo being real life,  including passionate love, murder and even attempted rape.

Group 1 did Verdi's "Attila" based on the life of Attila the Hun and his murderous sweep through Central Asia and the Roman Empire to stirring, blood-curdling music.
