Our Buildings & Cities Group has this year become quite diverse in its range of topics chosen either from personal interests or experiences, and has proved united in enthusiasm to attend a guided tour of our Elms Mission House in Tauranga for our September Meet.

Two of our group, Warwick Kingston-Smith and Susan Andersen, personally guided 17 of us through the Mission House and its outbuildings to share their extensive and interesting knowledge.   A Devonshire Tea, served in true Victorian style, completed this most enjoyable outing. Notable power-point presentations at the Wesley Lounge through the year have ranged from ancient sites, colonial development by French and the English nations, two diverse religious influences in Norway and Burma, an extraordinary Iranian female Architect, early Oamaru and Dunedin architecture, the history behind New Zealand’s Main Trunk Line, and our very own Chateau; past Convenor Cam Fisher has been on hand to share snippets of English sites.  Historic Wellington is our next New Zealand feature and then its abroad again to Barcelona and perhaps England before Xmas.  
Three new-comers have been welcomed to our group recently and, meeting as we do in the intimate Lounge of Wesley Church on the second Thursday of each month, there is still room for others who might like to join us.  Please feel free to visit.
