The Village is a vibrant, unique, alternative retail and events destination supporting a welcoming, cost-effective facility to house not-for-profit community groups.
Over 50 dynamic businesses are based at the Village, from local artists to photographers, to national community organisations. The Village opened in 1977, originally the site of the Tauranga Museum, where thousands of visitors enjoyed their unique visit into the past.
In August 1998 the site was taken over by the Compass Community Trust and reborn as the “Community” Village. Friends of the Village are supporters, volunteers and donors of the whole Village concept.
