windows 10
Five of us gathered to talk about our recent experiences and to wrap up the year, Friday 27th November 2015.

Although we are not strictly a computer group, most of us have computers and inevitably talk about them. This time it was about Windows 10.

Some like it, some loathed it, and some had had some quite distressing experiences with this new system. It seemed to us that Microsoft appeared to be using the public as a live test bed. Some time later it may well be a good system for all of us, but not yet. Advice is to hold off getting it until a month before the free downloads for it are no longer offered.

A Samsung S4 mobil phone had an app that was continually downloading and we couldn't find out what it was, let alone work out how to turn it off. Disapointingly, all we could recommend was to take it back to 2 Degrees to be fixed. Something to watch as it drained both the battery and the data allownce very quickly.

One of us had an interesting Skype experience on a laptop - their video was showing an upside-down picture! Once again, we were stumped, and the only answer that made sense was that the laptop video camera had been installed upside down. Back to the shop with that one too!

Noted that some movies on Raspberry Pi were not what they purported to be. I had searched out the latest Hunger Games movie, part 2. All the sites looked at showed it as part 2, but it was actually part 1. Trickery!

Our next meeting will be in February 2016.
