On the 10th March fourteen members of Hikers 2 set out to walk part of the Tarawera Track which starts near the Buried Village and ends at the hot pools at a distance of 15 kilometres.

Unbeknown to us the track was closed due to a huge slip about 4 k from the car park. The group walked the track to the slip then found a side track to the Tarawera Landing.
While having a lunch break there a decision was taken to complete our outing with a walk around the Blue Lake. One of the members hitched a ride with a couple of young tourists back to the cars at our starting point which commenced the ferrying of drivers and cars to transport the group to the Blue Lake.
Although it was disappointing not to have completed the planned trip it was a lovely warm day and the outing was enjoyed by everyone.
