Monday 9th May 2016
Today we concentrated mainly on the “Insert” menu.
The selections available under sub-menu “Illustrations” are many and varied. We experimented with “Smart Art”, with this as a sample:
The [Text] boxes are indeed text boxes into which can be typed characters. The arrow image itself can be shrunk, enlarged, or turned around, like this, by clicking and dragging on the edges of the boxes:
Note that the arrow is a separate entity from the text boxes. If the arrow is moved, the boxes may have to be relocated to stay within it.
Charts give lots of options too:
Note that the parameters for this chart (1st Qtr, 2nd Qtr, etc) are actually contained in an Excel spreadsheet. The chart references the spreadsheet, and changes to the figures in it will be reflected in consequent changes to the chart
Hyperlinks are references to web pages, or internet links. When one is placed in a document, the link is activated by clicking on it. Doing so will take you to the relevant website. Thus,
www.u3atauranga.kiwi.nz will take you to our website.
We experimented with bookmarks and cross-referencing, but decided to hold this over to the next meeting on 23rd May.
