Genealogy Beginners Goup
Genealogy is a study of family lineage history.  The word Genealogy originates from Greek, meaning generation and knowledge.   Elaine Hollins convenes and tutors the group “Genealogy for Beginners” and also “Genealogy 1”; and it was the beginners group we visited on Monday.
Elaine gives advice and help by making suggestions on how to get started with the family tree by researching world records, churches and libraries on the Internet.  Members are encouraged to help one another and to relate stories about their ancestors, noting when people moved from Scotland, England and other places to New Zealand.
Genealogy for Beginners group meets on the 3rd Monday of the month at 9.45 am.
