Weekend Walkers Papamoa East 27th June
On a beautiful sunny but cool Saturday morning 18 members and 2 visitors set off on a walk. We crossed a wooden bridge over the storm water drainage area and walked along the new roads and viewed all the new homes being built in the new subdivisions being developed.
We walked through Freedom Village for the over 55year olds. This development has progressed rapidly in the last 18 months. We talked to some of the residents who were enjoying the sunshine on their well placed decks. We viewed the concreted and gated area for the motorhomes and caravans. We were asked if we wished to view the mens shed but I thought we would never get the men out again. The community centre is close to commencing.
We visited another development designed for those with motorhomes and caravans where there are 2 homes built. Very small, very compact with a carport. This development has not progressed at this stage.
A walk along the gravel walkway which proceeds for some length with many entrances from the roads. Another wooden bridge for a photo stop. I understand they are in case of a tsumani.
Most had coffee etc at McDonalds in a private room before leaving for our homes.
Thanks all for coming on another successful U3A Weekend walk.
