Hikers 2 climbed to the Otawa Trig on a sunny but rather cool day. Access is gained by crossing a farm property, which has great views back to Tauranga.
Once we climbed over the gate into the bush it was a complete change of scenery. We walked at a leisurely pace negotiating the uneven track. We stopped for a short break after walking for one and a half hours. We carried on until we came to a cleared area at the side of the track. Here we could see south towards Edgecumbe with Te Puke in the foreground. A few people climbed the very steep difficult end of the track to the trig, but due to the dense bush there was no view! After eating lunch at the clearing we headed back to the cars. To finish off a pleasant day we had coffee at Paradisio in Tara Road.
