Weekend Walkers Carmichael Reserve to Belverdere Reserve 26th Sept
It had been years since I had walked this walk. 11 set off from Carmichael Reserve towards Waihi Road.
On the previous occasion we had walked over this road but not now. We found that part of the track was now isolated between 2 roads. We then found that here was 2 tracks, which one will we take. We decided on the left hand one and continued along a walkway that was being ungraded with huge boulders in a drain, and a wide track being formed. We continued and came across a lake in Belvedere Reserve. Ducks of varying species, a mother duck with her ducklings and other wildlife viewed along the way.
Morning tea and then we decided to climb some steps and hopefully someone would know the way back. Even asked a couple outside their home as to which street we were in. Viewed the upmarket homes along the way in St Andrews Drive until we came to Orange Lane. That was when I knew this was not the track I had intended taking.
We had coffee at Decor Garden Centre. Some looked at the plants but too far to carry them, 1 member bought some earrings, much easier to carry those. This was a much longer walk than expected but enjoyed by all..
I have since spoken to one of our members who will do a reconnoiter from Orange Lane, for another occasion.
