Hikers 2 group tramped by the Waitewheta river which flows into the Karangahake Gorge.

The hike commenced at Dickey's Flat and took us across the river and up the steep Dubbo Track which was wet and muddy and quite a struggle at times.  Once at the top it was easy going downhill to a lunch break across the river from the Karangahake parking area. The group then took the track through the spectacular Waitawheta Gorge on the return to Dickeys Flat. The location of the picture was about 1k from the cars and at the place where the track goes through a long dark tunnel through the bluff. This tunnel is quite an adventure in itself requiring torches and much care not to bang your head on the low ceiling in places.
