U3A Tauranga Cycle Group commenced at the start of the Daisy Hardwick shared walkway, through McCardell's bush to Waihi Road and continued the Waikareao Estuary circuit.
The day was ideal biking weather, temperature right, humidity low and no wind. We could not have asked for better.
The group continued to Harbour Drive, Kulim Park, Beach Road Reserve and turned around at the Otemoetai Sports and Recreation hall in Ferguson Park. We all went for coffee at Bureta Bar & Eatery. There was discussion about the Otago Cycle Trails and some good information shared by those who have been to those who are about to go.
Today we each travelled about 20 km, plus the distance cycled to meet up, with zero kg CO2 emissions.
The U3A Cycle Group has registered with Aotearoa Bike Chalenge and members are able to record their distance on the bike challenge web site, www.lovetoride.net/nz or for local information http://www.sportbop.co.nz/get-active/play-in-the-bay/aotearoa-bike-challenge/
