Adding a simple article to a Noticeboard
A member (convener or group member designated) can submit an article to the web site administrator for publishing in the Noticeboard section. Some groups may choose to use this for advising members of topics for future meetings if these are decided in advance. (See the film group). Other groups may use this to record what has taken place for members who can not attend.
Articles can also be submitted by email to the web site administrator.
This article relates to the lowest level of contributor and shows the simplest method of using the web site to submit content. Any member conversant with web sites, html and image file sizes may be given a higher level of access.
Firstly, contact the web site administrator to be given a log in permission.
The Log In button is at the bottom of the screen.
The Log In screen opens. The message is to assist visitors, telling them there is no advantage to Logging in.
There are options of requesting an email to an email address registered on the site giving you the password or username is available
Enter User Name, (case sensitive) and password, click Log In or enter.
You will get the Log In Message and the reminder to Log Out will appear in the left column.
The bottom menu will have the option to ‘Create Article’ and will put it in the category specified in the user access level.
This level is the basic, with a very simple text box. The text formatting is handled by the web site program.
Adding images is not available, even though the buttons show, they will not submit an image.
Tooltips pop-ups will appear as you move the mouse around the required boxes.
The article must have a unique Title and some content before it will save. The date the article is published is supressed, but may be turned on if required. Therefore it may be helpful to include the date in the article.
The alias is generated by the computer based on the title, leave it blank.
The first paragraph must give a summary of what the article is about. The Administrator will be able to add a 'Read more' and feature the article at their discression.
With a title and some content the article can be submitted. There is no option to save part way through.
Click the ‘Save’ button.
An e-mail is sent to the site administrator who has to publish it on the web site.
