Opera Appreciation 1 recently did the full opera Rossini "William Tell". It was Rossini's last opera and a real blockbuster, four hours over two DVDs.

Our Buildings & Cities Group has this year become quite diverse in its range of topics chosen either from personal interests or experiences, and has proved united in enthusiasm to attend a guided tour of our Elms Mission House in Tauranga for our September Meet.

On a beautiful sunny winter’s day 7 members of the Mini-Hikers1 Group met on Marine Parade, Mount Maunganui.

U3A Tauranga cycle group enjoyed a spring ride around the Lakes suburb. The blossoms were coming out, the day was fine, and no significant wind made riding a pleasure.

Val and Betty shared their local area with us. Papamoa Plaza was the beginning of a figure of eight walk.

Recently we visited a hydroponics lettuce farm near Katikati.

It is one of the largest operations of its type in NZ, tucked away down a side road and out of view. Another example of “you never know what is behind that hedge”.

Hikers 1 enjoyed a short winters' walk from Henry Road, Katikati, where a new bridge gives access to the Haiku Walkway and on to the Uretara Estuary and Yoeman Walkway.

Ten members of mini hikers traveled to Katikati to walk the estuary on Wednesday.  What a magnificent day weather wise it turned out to be.
