Members were given a construction problem to solve at our final meeting of 2021.

Each group was given 5 pieces of spaghetti, some string, some adhesive tape, a marshmallow and some scissors.
Using only these materials they had 40 minutes to construct a free standing tower to support the marshmallow as high as possible above the table top.
Amazingly, all the finished towers measured somewhat over 70cm with only 3 or 4 cm separating the highest from the lowest.  The groups were separated, so no peeping/copying and the competition was fierce and a lot of fun.

The last photo shows Lati with all the finished towers.

The History of New Zealand group

We spent a very pleasant morning for our final meeting of the year visiting the new garden at The Elms. We are fortunate to have Bev as one of our members and she explained the significance of the  plantings as well as the design of the structure within it. We admired the magnificent carvings and leant something of the stories behind them.

Mike spoke to us at the November general meeting and left us with these slides from his presentation

The photography group held their last meeting for the year at the usual venue, with morning tea outside in the sun to get some fresh air and vitamin D before gathering in the darkened room to view their photos on the TV.

Garden Ramblers 1 visited an extensive inner city garden that flowed down a steep bank with a profusion of flowers, fruit and vegetables.
